Audrey Carr
Audrey Carr has been keen on art all of her life. She can even remember the first picture she ever drew when she was at the infants school in Dundas Street, Richmond.
She was born above her grandmother's large shop at 30 High Row, Richmond and loves Richmond with a passion. Her early childhood was spent running wild in the alleys and wastes of the Market Place and riverside woods. Consequently, she knows the town like the back of her hand and has many memories of the interesting inhabitants.
After her education at Richmond High School she took a training in Drama and English at Trent Park and eventually became a teacher of those subjects in London, then Winchester, then Northallerton Girls School, returning to Richmond to enjoy teaching at Richmond School.
Audrey now paints landscapes of the countryside in and around Richmond.
