Christine Spence
I was born in Wakefield, West Yorkshire in 1939 and educated at Wakefield Girls High School. Married life saw me in Pakistan where I had the first of my 3 sons and painted for friends and family.
In 1965 we returned to the UK as Pakistan dug in for war. We lived in Derbyshire, Avon, South Wales and London before moving to Nigeria in 1976, where I painted and taught beginners to paint for 3 years.
In the early 80's we moved back to the London area where I started to take up art seriously. In 1984 we moved to Yorkshire where I went to Harrogate College of Art and Design on a foundation course followed by HND courses.
I paint in all mediums though my favourite is pastels. My main interest is the nude and portraiture and I like to work from the figure. One of my favourite artists is Lucien Freud.
