Phoenix Fine Arts, which opened its doors on the 8th February 2002, was set up by A. C. Spence and Angela Davis. Phoenix invites artists to display their work for 6 weeks on a commission basis. It also has the facility to hold one man exhibitions in the newly opened print and exhibition room, where the artist can show their work to the public for 2 to 4 weeks and have their work displayed in the shop window. In an ever-changing array of original works from traditional oils and watercolours to abstract and textile, there is something in the gallery for every taste it’s always worth a look in to see what’s new. Phoenix also has a beautiful selection of glass and ceramics; all original and hand-made by a wide range of artists sculptural as well as practical. The glass is from Sanders & Wallace of Pateley Bridge and is all individually blown and signed. Simon Fitton presents beautiful lead light panels; some of the glass he uses is up to 150 years old. There is also a large selection of jewellery, some locally handcrafted, all very unique and all at various prices. Phoenix stocks probably the best range of greetings cards in Richmond, so whether you are looking for a gift or a treat for yourself, it’s worth popping in to Phoenix Fine Arts. |
