Mark Reed

Born in Catterick, 1964, Mark grew up in a predominantly military environment, in many varied countries around the world before boarding first at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School in Dover, then at Barnard Castle School. He joined the Army as an Ammunition Technician where he became an instructor in counter-terrorist bomb disposal before leaving to take up a career in humanitarian landmine clearance.

Working and living in Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Turkey and Sudan with his own company, he recognised a desire to return to North Yorkshire and explore his roots. Finding it difficult to secure employment, he took up painting to express himself. Describing himself as ‘not yet self-taught’, his technique is in the early stages. Working in acrylics and airbrushed inks, each subject grows unplanned from the canvas, drawing on local beauty as well as the many darker images of the last 45 years.

Mark would be delighted to be contacted on;  eoditcs@gmail.com
