Sue Dewhurst

Born in Blackburn, Lancashire in1969. Formal artistic training completed in the early 1990’s, degree from Newcastle Poly followed by a further two years specialising in painting and sculpture at Sunderland Poly.

Then came the wilderness years travelling around Europe, S E Asia and South America meeting many fantastic artists, interspersed with some very boring office jobs.

Worked for five years with artists Pam Taylor and Paul Martinez Frias at the wonderful Spectrum Gallery in mid Wales.

Now settled in Tunstall, near Richmond, painting a mix of animals in domestic settings, decaying buildings, gone- over flowers and other such detritus, all executed in intense colours and bold brush strokes.

The big skies and brilliant light of North Yorkshire are proving an excellent muse.

Work to commission mainly, as well as showing in local galleries.
