Summer Garden Party at Temple Lodge (27 Aug 2009)
A traditional family garden party is taking place at one of Richmond’s most picturesque venues over the bank holiday weekend to raise money for a local charity.
The Richmondshire Open Spaces Appeal (ROSA) is hosting a garden party at Temple Lodge, which has rarely seen views of Culloden Tower and the Swale Valley, on Sunday 30 August from 2 - 5pm.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to take guided tours of this extensive landscaped garden, enjoy Irish dancing displays, and take part in a wide range of family-orientated activities, including face painting, lawn games, tombola and stalls. Cream teas will also be served.
Admission to the event is free and there will be a raffle with many prizes kindly donated by local businesses, including: Saks, Boots, Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Roots & Shoots.
Event organiser Stuart Parsons said: “The ROSA garden party has become a popular annual event and this year we are delighted to be able to enjoy the delightful surroundings of Temple Lodge.
“We are looking forward to a wonderful afternoon and are very grateful to Richard and Morven Lawson for opening up their garden. It isn’t often that people have the opportunity to visit this beautiful place, which enjoys a secluded setting so close to the centre of town,” he added.
The pedestrian entrance to Temple Lodge is on Cravengate, just opposite the entrance to Newbiggin. Parking is available on Newbiggin or in the nearby Nun’s Close car park.
