Richmond Welcomes Christmas (25 Nov 2009)
Richmond’s festive celebrations start this Friday with the Christmas light switch-on in the town.
Richmond Town Council, together with The Duck Club, will be welcoming Christmas to Richmond with the switching on of the Christmas Lights on Friday, November 27th. The evening’s events begin at 6pm in Friary Gardens, with help from Father Christmas and Fresh Radio. Festivities will continue all evening throughout the town centre. There will be carol singers and late night shopping, as well as mince pies and Christmas punch available in Richmond Market Hall.
Richmond Town Council’s Civic Carol Service will take place on Wednesday, December 9th in St Mary’s Church. The evening’s entertainment begins at 7pm and music will be provided by Leyburn Town Band, as well as children from the choirs of Richmond C of E Primary School and St Mary’s RC Primary School. Entry for the carol service is free, and retiring donations will be collected for the Mayor’s charities.
St Mary’s Church also plays host to a second musical evening in aid of Help For Heroes and the Mayor’s charities. The Heavy Cavalry and Cambria Band will present a Christmas Extravaganza on Tuesday, December 15th from 7pm. Again entry is free, but retiring donations will be collected for the charities.
Tickets are not required for any of these events and everyone is welcome.
