From One Wall to Another (5 Feb 2010)
A new art exhibition has opened at The Station, Richmond where art lovers can bid for paintings in a silent auction.
Over 110 different works of art have been donated by many well-known artists, actors, broadcasters, politicians and musicians. These include contributions from or by, Prince Charles, Damien Hirst, Sam Taylor Wood, Maureen Lipman, MackenzieThorpe, Sir Ben Kingsley, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Joe Cornish, The Bishop of Ripon, Sir Michael Parkinson, Jah Wobble, William Hague and Karl Jenkins, to name but a few.
The Wall to Wall event, which opened on Monday, continues throughout the month of February and has been organised to raise money for The Station charity. The diverse collection of works of art from private collections and artists can be bid for either at The Station or online at wall-to-wall-art.com.
Donald Cline, Station Trustee, said: “Some of the works have reserve prices on them, however because the artists want the charity to benefit from their donations, they have been set at very reasonable levels.”
The organisers of the Wall to Wall silent auction are hoping to raise £20,000 by the time bidding finishes at 5pm on February 28.
