Richmond’s New Town Clerk (25 Feb 2010)
A new town clerk has been appointed to Richmond Town Council.
The Town Council had been without a town clerk since last August after the sudden death of the previous town clerk, Geoff Coates. Mr Coates who died of cancer at James Cook Hospital had been town clerk since November 2006.
Miles Templeton, 52, took over the role last month after retiring early from a career in IT with central government in York and London. He said: “I always said I would like to have another job, but it would have to be in Richmond, as near to the town square as possible. What appealed to me about the job was that there is so much tradition in the town, which is something I would like to help preserve.
“I just feel at the moment that, as beautiful as the town is, it doesn’t look as vibrant as it could. I don’t know what is missing, but would like to play my part in adding to the town and giving it some identity again.”
The Town Hall will also be launching a new website in mid March which will be full of up-to-date information and new features. Check Richmond Online in March for more information and links.
