Local Artist Opens Gallery (9 Apr 2010)
An artist with a passion for colour and texture has opened a new gallery in Richmond.
Caroline Hudson, 42, has finally fulfilled an ambition to open her own gallery selling her unique ceramics and paintings.
The gallery, just off Richmond market square in Millgate, sells a range of her ceramic pots, tile wall hangings, one off pieces of artwork, as well as small gift items such as hearts, stars and fish. It also sells her unique handmade tiles which can be made to order.
Caroline went to Jacob Kramer College in Leeds before working in different art galleries in the region then returning to studying in Leeds and Glasgow. After having her 2 children she studied ceramics at Darlington College. Since then she has had several exhibitions in and around Richmond, the latest being a very successful show at The Station last November.
“I’m very proud and excited about my new venture, opening up this small studio is a true dream,” said Caroline.
“Colour and texture are absolute essential elements in my life and therefore also in my work. My inspiration comes from a deep-rooted love of textiles, Spanish and Moroccan tiles and ironwork and also the sea.”
Caroline divides her time between creating her work at her home in Richmond and being at the gallery. Opening times for April are Thursdays 11am – 3pm, Fridays 10am – 4pm, Saturdays 10am – 5pm and Sundays 12 noon – 3pm.
