Summer Workshops at Local Museum (22 June 2010)
Three Summer Workshops are to be held at Richmondshire Local History Museum on Ryders Wynd during the months of July and August.
The workshops, which are led by experts, will be held in the Museum’s Wenham Study Centre and are open to everyone on a first come first served basis.
The first workshop is on Thursday July 8th at 2pm and offers an opportunity to create your own cartoon. Under the expert tuition of local artist Grace Gilpin you will get the chance to take a humorous look at local legends through the art of cartoon drawing.
For those more inclined to sewing, local embroiderer Ann McDonald will be imparting her embroidery skills to enable you to stitch a small sampler inspired by a very old sampler displayed in the Museum. Ann McDonald is an expert ecclesiastical embroiderer who holds various workshops and classes in Richmond. This workshop will be held on Monday July 19th from 2pm – 5pm.
On Friday 6th August, Vera Selby will be demonstrating screen-printing and giving you the opportunity to create and print your own greetings cards. Vera Selby was born and brought up in Richmond and is an expert in many different crafts. In 2009 she was appointed Master of the Fellmongers Guild, the first woman to hold that office in its long history. The workshop will run from 2pm – 5pm.
Booking for any of the workshops is essential as the number of places is limited. A small charge will be made to cover the cost of materials, which will be supplied.
For more information about the workshops see Richmondshire Museum’s website: www.richmondshiremuseum.org.uk or to book please telephone 07894668005.
