Thank You to all our generous supporters
The Richmond branch of the Royal British Legion provide support and social activity to anyone connected to the Armed Forces. The branch meets on the second Thursday of each month at Richmond Cricket Club. Starting at 7 pm.
Our meetings usually consist of a light supper (not compulsory) followed by the official meeting with a chance to chat and meet with others who have a common interest i.e. Service with any of the Armed Forces.
The motto of the RBl is "Service Not Self" so along with our colleagues nationally, we aim the support each other and enjoy our memories. But it is not all "Old War Stories" in fact there is not a great deal of talk of past heroics. Much of our conversation and activity is up to date and for the future.
We hold three or four dinners each year and every so often, organise a Festival of Remembrance concert for the town.
Obviously our biggest event each year is Poppy Fortnight when members work to raise funds for the national Poppy Appeal. The branch has been very successful, raising in excess of £29,000 in recent years.
However, to do this we need members to partake, It is a time when we all pull together to help those who serve or have served and have difficulties for one reason or another.
