Independus is a local organisation established and led by a group of disabled people in Richmondshire and Hambleton.
We were formed to enable disabled people to control their own lives through the provision of facilities, services and support in line with the Governments own recommendation that each locality should have a user led group working to promote disability issues, a centre for independent living.
Independus can help by offering practical help, useful advice and information on a wide range of issues, such as: direct payments, benefits, housing and accommodation, access to specialist support and dealing with finances.
We also have a Social Group which meets every Thursday, 2pm – 4pm and a Creative Writer’s Group that meets every month. Full details of the group’s activities can either be found on the Independus web site or by contacting the office.
