Richmond Community - St John's Centre
A Day Centre for Older People, Disabled People and the Blue Bus Playgroup.
St John’s has operated as a charity since 1988. We employ 12 staff and currently have 12 regular volunteers. On Monday and Wednesday older people use the centre (Monday and Wednesday Clubs). Every Friday the centre is used by disabled people (Friday Club). As an organisation based in the heart of the community we have strong support from volunteers. We have well trained employees who ensure that people attending the centre have their individual needs catered for. Both groups have benefited from the introduction of computers into the centre. Trips out to Tesco for shopping or further a field are regular events. Outings to the cinema, gentle exercise and guest speakers and activities are provided to make the centre an interesting place to be.
The main hall is a hive of bustling activity and sometimes the smaller annex is where people go for small group activities, to watch the television (generously donated by the Roundtable) or just to read the paper.
