Your family story
Venue: The Green Howards Museum
Time: 10.30am - 4.30pm
Did your relative serve with the Armed Forces? Do you know where he saw service? Was he a P.O.W? Find out at our family history session.

Come along to the museum with your family stories of military service. We’d love to see any military artefacts, memorabilia, letters or personal items you have.

Our staff will be joined by experts from The Royal Armouries, The York Army Museum and The Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Museum. They will help uncover the story of your relative’s participation in both world wars, and could even solve the mystery of that military looking thing you’ve had in the loft all these years!

This is a FREE event, included in your museum admission.

Before your visit…

We’ll be able to help more if bring as much official information as possible.

Research into soldiers who served in World War One is relatively straightforward, but for those soldiers who served in World War Two, it can be problematic; individual service records are still held and controlled by the Ministry of Defence but they are available to next-of-kin.

In the case of soldiers from World War Two, if you can get a service record before you come along, we will be able to tell you much more than we would without it.

They are soon joined by the pragmatic Ernest and Cookie, followed by Glenn and Cassie, who have relationship problems.

Rumours abound regarding Charley and his wife Vivian. What happens when the Police arrive? Is there an explanation of the Rumours and Charley’s situation and who will concoct an explanation for what actually happened on the night

Richmondshire Concerts present the Engegård Quartet
Venue: Influence Church, Victoria Road
Time: 19:30
Top Norwegian string quartet visits Richmond.

The Oslo-based quartet’s first CD was praised as "breath-taking" in The Strad magazine, while its latest - of works by Grieg and Sibelius - was described as "what Grieg lovers have been waiting for" (Music Web International).

Haydn's 'Fifths' Quartet opens the evening, with its familiar, obsessive rhythms. Bartók's Fourth Quartet takes us into the world of folksong, which is returned to after the interval.

A local operatic society attempts to put on a simple Nativity show. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, with this bunch of misfits, anything is possible!

The Nativity Saga tells the story of a rather unsuccessful attempt at an amateur society putting on the most famous story of them all. It is packed full of amazing songs, ranging from modern musical numbers, through to Christmas hits of the decades, to the more traditional festive classics.
