Rachel Morrell
Venue: The Station
A new exhibition at The Station.

Rachel located to Wensleydale some years ago and now enjoys spending time painting. Her work is mainly in acrylics, although she has spent many years painting in watercolour, oils and on silk.

Her inspiration comes from colour and contrast in the landscape.

The challange is to simplify, with the occasional foray into abstract work and printmaking.

Snake Davis and Jess Gillam
Venue: The Georgian Theatre Royal
Time: 7.30pm
Sax legend Snake Davis teams up with rising star Jess Gillam for a relaxing mix of classical, pop, soul and jazz pieces.

Jess found the sax at 7 years old and it’s been the centre of her world ever since. A student at Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music, she is fast becoming established as one of the UK’s leading saxophonists. Multiple award-winner, overall runner up of BBC Young Musician of the Year 2016, Jess was a star soloist at the recent BBC Proms.

At 19 Snake was still wondering what to do with his life but by the age of 20 the blinkers were on, the head was down, and the sax was strapped almost permanently round his neck! World tours with M-People, Eurythmics et al followed, along with recording dates with over 400 artists from Ray Charles and Paul McCartney to Take That.

Tickets cost £16 and are available from the Box Office on 01748 825252 or via the online booking service.

Richmondshire Concerts present Divertimenti
Venue: Influence Church, Victoria Road
Time: 19:30
Excellent classical string quintet.

The five members of Divertimenti are top ranking performers, with a wealth of world-wide concert experience as soloists, orchestral principals and chamber music players.

A number of beautiful quintets have been written for the unusual double-cello lineup. First tonight is Boccherini's famous String Quintet - which will have many in the audience exclaiming "Oh, but I know this!". Next comes Sally Beamish's Divertimenti, written for this very ensemble. Just before the interval, the cellos take a rest during Dvořák's luscious Terzetto.

Finally, Schubert’s great C Major Quintet forms the backbone of the evening's programme, and will be a fabulous ending to the 71st season of the Richmondshire Concerts.

Tickets are £15 at www.rsconcerts.org or at Castle Hill Bookshop, or on the door, subject to availability.
