Home/Background | The Development | Fire Damage
In the early hours of February 14 2000 a fire swept through the former Convent School on Reeth Road. More than 30 firefighters with six appliances were used to control the blaze which could be seen from as far away as Scotch Corner.
As can be seen here the amount of damage to the buildings was huge - the fire gutted the west wing, the gable end pictured left was in danger of collapse.

Shortly after the blaze the land was brought by Carlbury Developments, a locally based company formed especially to develop the old Convent site.
