Who/What is Richmond Online?
Richmond Online is the community web site for Richmond. The web site is designed and maintained by Andrew Russell of Moonburst, a Richmond based web design company.
History
In 1999 this web site, produced by Andrew Russell of Moonburst, was handed over to Richmond Online Limited, a partnership between Richmond Town Council, Richmond Business & Tourism Association and Richmond Swale Valley Community Initiative. This enabled Moonburst to develop the web site into the economically sustainable community web site. In December 2007 the web site was handed back to Moonburst in order to continue its development as an important asset for the Richmond community.
How is Richmond Online Funded?
As you can imagine, keeping this web site up-to-date and professionally maintained involves an ongoing cost. Along with the continued input in time and money from Moonburst, the web site generates income from advertising and sponsorship. The Town Council section is paid for by a grant fom the Town Hall.
We have also received donations from the RBTA and the RSVCI as well as some private donations. Some sections of the site have been produced with grant funding obtained from the RSVCI and Yorkshire Forward.
Is Richmond Online part of Richmondshire District Council?
We are often asked this question as many users mistakenly believe that we are the District Council web site. We are not linked or funded by the RDC, though they have in the past, sponsored some pages.
Is Richmond Online part of the Tourist Information Centre?
We are not part of the TICs, though we do have communication on relevant matters concerning tourism.
Is Richmond Online linked with English Heritage
We are not linked to English Heritage though we have some pages about English Heritage locations (e.g. Richmond Castle) using information supplied by them. The English Heritage logo is visible around the site on relevant pages.
If I donate money - where will it go?
All the money donated to Richmond Online, as well as all other revenue is used for the further development or maintenance of the web site.
If you donate money for a specific purpose, or if a business gives sponsorship for a particular page or section, the money is used for that purpose only.
