Saturday Afternoon Entertainment for Children at Richmond's Theatre

Children's Matinee Season continues at the Georgian Theatre Royal this Saturday with an enchanting new adaptation by leading children's playwright Mike Kenny of the much loved story Rapunzel.
Performed by national touring company Tutti Frutti and produced with York Theatre Royal, Rapunzel tells the story of a girl who is taken away from what she knows, protected from all the things that she loves and placed high-up in a tower.
Tutti Frutti, who are set to celebrate their 21st Birthday, are based in Leeds and have been delighting children aged 3 and above since 1991. The company tour nationally and internationally to schools, venues, arts centres and village halls through the rural touring schemes.
Director Wendy Harris said about the new production: “In a year where we celebrate our 21st birthday it is such a thrill to be once again working with Mike Kenny on this specially commissioned new play that promises to engage children with wonderful storytelling, strong visual imagery and live music.”
Mike Kenny is one of England’s leading writers, specialising in young people’s theatre. He is the recipient of numerous awards, was included in the Independent on Sunday’s list of Top Ten Living UK Playwrights and his plays are performed regularly throughout the UK and all over the world.
