Co-operative Travel in Richmond seeks Christmas gifts to fill 'Santa's Suitcase'
Thursday, Nov 29, 2012
The Co-operative Travel store in Richmond is once again seeking donations of Christmas gifts to fill its 'Santa's Suitcase' in aid of the Richmondshire Childrens Services at Hipswell House in Catterick.
Staff at the store in the Market Place are collecting suitable, unwrapped gifts from customers to create a bulging suitcase full of presents for the children. They will then hand over the festive haul to Hipswell House on December 14th. Anyone wishing to donate are asked to just pop into the store with their gifts before December 12th.
Tracy Charlton, Branch Manager comments: "We have been running the Santa’s Suitcase appeal with Hipswell House for several years in the hope that no child in our area misses out on Christmas. Hipswell House does such excellent work to help children and their families in the area, so we’re really pleased to be doing our bit, particularly at this time of year. Any donation, however small, will be gratefully received and will go to a very good home.”
Now in its ninth year, ‘Santa’s Suitcase’ is a network-wide initiative of the Co-operative Travel, which the majority of its 300 stores across the country undertake each Christmas in aid of a local charity of their choice. The initiative has proved to be so popular with customers, that last year one store collected enough gifts to fill six suitcases.
