Santa Makes First Official Appearance at the Station
Friday, Nov 30, 2012
There is an opportunity to catch Christmas early in Richmond this weekend as Santa and his helpers disembark at The Station for the very first time!
Although The Station has been open as a visitor attraction for five years, this will be the first official appearance from Father Christmas and he’ll be making up for lost time by installing himself in his own magical grotto, set amid an imaginary Victorian Street scene. He arrives on Saturday at 11am and will be there every weekend in December to meet local children and present them with surprise gifts.
Additional entertainment includes guest appearances from The Snow Queen and Jack Frost, alongside live music on the platform from Richmond Jam jazz band at 11am on Sunday and a jewellery stall from Rockchique running both days where adults can purchase gifts while children learn how to make their own bracelets which they can then take home. Mulled wine and mince pies will also be served on the platform throughout the weekend.
‘We are transforming the platform into a magical, festive scene and we want everyone to come along and soak up the atmosphere,’ says Station manager, Laura Hannaway. ‘Our artisan food shops are busy preparing plenty of Christmas treats for visitors and Seasons will be introducing Christmas specials and a 3-course Christmas party menu.’
Visitors will also enjoy The Station’s new Christmas decorations purchased by The Station Trust, the charity responsible for the upkeep of the building, using funds raised at weekend fairs hosted by Seasons earlier in the year.
Santa’s Grotto open from 11am-5pm every weekend in December (Sat 1/Sun 2; Sat 8/Sun 9; Sat15/Sun16; Sat 22/Sun 23). Tickets £6 per child, including gift.
Details of live music and other events during December can be seen by clicking on the Santa banner at www.thestation.co.uk or contact The Station on 01748 850123.
