Good Things come in Threes for Local Creative Design Company
A creative design company based on the outskirts of Richmond, North Yorkshire celebrated three key milestones on its third birthday this week. It has doubled its staff, moved into spacious high-tech offices and re-positioned its business offering with a new brand.

Purple Creative Studio was established in 2009 by Phil Upton and Allan Guy to provide web-based solutions to the local and regional business community. Since then, demand for the company’s services has grown to such an extent that it has taken on two graduate employees.

And it is not just extra pairs of hands that the company is gaining. The new appointments are in areas that are helping Purple Creative Studio to provide extended consultancy services including Google apps for business and ‘Cloud’, which will complement the growing branding and printed media side of their portfolio.

“Between us, Allan and I have around 45 years of creative design and IT experience on which we have built the reputation of the company,” said Phil Upton. “However, things are moving very fast in this area and we wanted to recruit members of staff who not only have creative skills but are bang up-to-date with the latest technological developments.

“We are very excited about the future, as the rapidly changing landscape of information technology continues to bring new opportunities and smarter ways of working for us and our clients,” he added.

Both of the new recruits are from the Richmond area, supporting the company’s policy of providing skilled local employment. Andrew Birks, 23, has a degree in Applied Computing from Northumbria University and joined the team in December 2011. Wil Jones, 21, came on an internship this summer after graduating from Loughborough University and was given a permanent position in September.

To mark this new business focus, the company has changed its name from Purple Creative Services to Purple Creative Studio which is reflected in its own new branding and website

The company has also moved into a new state-of-the-art studio at the heart of the Aske Stables business park on the outskirts of Richmond. Here it is able to combine high-tech equipment and modern office space within the historic setting of a country estate.
Located only three miles from the Scotch Corner A1/A66 intersection, it is ideally placed to serve Purple’s client base, which includes a wide range of businesses and organisations in both the public and private sectors across the region and nationally.

At the studio’s official opening on 3 December – which was attended by prominent members of the local business community – the owner of the Aske Stables and Zetland Estate, Lord Ronaldshay, said: “It is incredible what Phil and Allan have achieved in such a short space of time, particularly against the current economic backdrop which makes any expansion so difficult. I hope the future continues to hold good things for them.”
