The Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton, a ‘restaurant with rooms’ in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, has been awarded five stars by the AA.
The boutique hotel received the highest classification following a rigorous inspection from an accredited inspector.
The criteria states that to obtain Five Star status the establishment must offer ‘awareness of each guest's needs with nothing being too much trouble. All bedrooms are en suite or have a private bathroom. Excellent quality beds and furnishings. Breakfast includes specials/home-made items, high quality ingredients, and fresh local produce.’
Each room at the Wensleydale Heifer is not only different from its neighbour; it has its own unique theme. Whether a whisky, champagne or chocolate devotee, a movie, racing or animal lover, guests are sure to find a room to suit them down to the ground.
For those wanting a romantic break then the True Romantics room is just the thing; or, for those wanting a slice of Yorkshire heritage, the James Herriot room should be booked.
AA Hotel Services has been recognising accommodation since 1908 and first introduced the star rating scheme in 1912, recognising and rewarding establishments for the quality and range of their services and facilities. The Hotel Quality Standards have evolved over the years to reflect consumer expectations within the industry and to ensure the ratings and awards are accurate, consistent and reliable.
Only 61 establishments in the UK have the coveted 5 star ‘restaurant with rooms’ including The Marquis at Alkham, Kent and The Peat Inn in St Andrews, Scotland.
David Moss, co-owner of the Wensleydale Heifer, said: “With our themed rooms we certainly feel that we do offer something different and to receive five stars is an endorsement of the quality of the hotel and our staff.
“We are very proud to receive this accolade from the AA, which reflects the hard work and dedication of the whole team.”
