Rhythm, movement and humour will light up the Georgian Theatre Royal stage on Thursday 28th February when the Taiko Drummers take you on a journey that's not to be missed.
After years of performing at some of the country’s most prestigious venues, T.V. and film appearances, touring across continents, and collaborating with different musicians from countless genres, members of Mugenkyo now return to the roots of Taiko drumming with a lively and entertaining concert, performing an array of traditional Taiko whilst revealing the history, culture and background in a dramatic but intimate show.

Taiko drumming has a long history in Japan from its roots within religious festivals, Shinto ceremonies, to folk song, folk dance, and traditional theatre. These fascinating traditions are revealed to the audience in an accessible and entertaining concert, engaging the audience with dialogue and participation, in between the hard-hitting and powerful traditional Taiko pieces.
The traditions of Taiko are extremely varied, with each area of Japan developing their own unique style of playing. These different styles are introduced within the concert, with the stories behind them, as well as revealing the methods of construction of these beautiful hand-crafted instruments.
