The Friends of the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond have presented a cheque for £5,000 to Theatre Chief Executive, Warnock Kerr this week in support of the 2013 Summer/ Autumn Season programme.
The theatre, which is currently celebrating its 225th anniversary, relies heavily on the generosity of individuals and organisations for support.
The Friends of the Georgian Theatre Royal are also celebrating an anniversary in 2013 as it is 10 years since the Friends scheme started up and began supporting the Georgian.
Bev Joicey, Chairman of the Friends, said: “The Friends exists to support the theatre and we are always pleased - and, somewhat proud - that our contributions go toward helping ensure that such an entertaining, informative and, ultimately, very enjoyable programme is being offered by the theatre. It's amazing really that this small country town has such a gem of a theatre within its midst.”
Chief Executive of the theatre, Warnock Kerr, said: “The support of the Friends is invaluable to the operation of the Georgian and their financial contribution helps enormously to keep live theatre in Richmond and to preserve this wonderful example of theatre heritage.”
