Prepare to be whisked away on a frenetic, fiddle-fuelled, high-octane live musical adventure when the Wildcats of Kilkenny arrive at the Georgian Theatre Royal on Saturday 20th July.
In 2011 the Wildcats of Kilkenny celebrated their twentieth anniversary - a staggering achievement for a band formed as a knee-jerk response to Shane MacGowan describing frontman Mike McGrother as a ‘Geordie’…not what a proud Teessider wants to hear from his hero!
Their irreverent, manic and highly-charged performances have now been enjoyed by literally hundreds of thousands of fans across the world. Yes, Mike and his merry gang have brought their foot-stomping, hands-in-the-air mayhem to regular sell-out shows, playing everywhere from Brum to Beijing.
Expect a rousing fusion of celtic, rock’n’roll, jazz and twisted folk, with frenzied jigging, frantic fiddling, wild crowd participation and sentimental singalongs a-plenty!
Support comes from goodtime Americana obsessives Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra. Expect 1930s swing, gypsy jazz, wild-eyed Cajun and - in their own words - tales ‘of debauchery, dandyism and disaster’. Sounds perfect!
The Wildcats of Kilkenny are at the Georgian Theatre Royal on Saturday 20th July at 7:30pm. For tickets and more information please contact the Box Office on 01748 825252 or visit our new website www.georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk
