Audiences at the Georgian Theatre Royal will be joined in the bar by real rocking horses tonight and tomorrow! The display of rocking horses ties in with North Country Theatre’s latest production The Rocking Horse Winner.
When theatre volunteer and museum guide Andy White heard that the company were performing an adaptation of the D H Lawrence work, he offered to display a selection of rocking horses that he makes and sells in his spare time.
Andy, who lives in Richmond, said: “When I am not volunteering at the Georgian Theatre, I make rocking horses which is quite an unusual hobby! I have all sorts of commissions from people to make them as gifts for children and grandchildren.”
North Country Theatre’s production is currently touring the region after opening at Harrogate with great reviews. A rare supernatural tale from one of the 20th century’s great novelists, D H Lawrence, The Rocking Horse Winner takes young Paul on a wild ride in search of two things, the approval of his mother and the place where Luck is. But how far will his sinister old rocking horse take him?
The last remaining tickets priced £7 - £16 (concessions £5 - £14) are available from the Theatre Box Office on Tel 01748 825252.
