Organisers couldn’t have hoped for a better event at Richmond Live 2013! The weather was fabulous and the attendance exceptional. The acts were the best ever and the crowds of music fans grew to levels never seen before!
For sixteen years now music lovers and local businesses in and around Richmond North Yorkshire have been counting down the days to Richmond Live. The event, held on the scenic Richmond Batts, has grown steadily since its modest beginnings in the mid-1990s. Back then a handful of volunteers put on a low key gig with a few hundred interested visitors looking on. Since then big name band’s including From The Jam, Paul Carrack, Marillion and Bad Manners have hit the stage and wowed the crowds into the night. The result is an enormous, loyal following.
Jon Naylor, the event’s Marketing Manager explains, “Such a successful event last year has given us a great head start for the 2014 show! It means we have funds available to attract the acts we are looking for and get them signed up much earlier than before. That’s why we are proud to be able to announce our Saturday night headline act already. Even better than that we actually plan to have two headliners the second of which will be announced shortly.”
Richmond Live are proud to announce that their headliners this year will be the great British pop institution Beautiful South – now known as The South having reformed in 2009 after a short break and containing the majority of the original members including singers Dave Hemmingway and Alison Wheeler. The South are set to wow the Richmond Live crowd with old favourites such as A Little Time, Perfect Ten and Old Red Eyes to name just a few. Now with a new album under their belts (Sweet Refrains) described as “catchily gorgeous” by Rock N Reel magazine, The South will be showcasing some of their new tracks at the event.
Being a non-profit making event relying upon donations and support from across the local community, the Committee are keen to thank their sponsors, the many Friends of Richmond Live and the hard-working volunteers.
Richmond Live runs from 4.45pm to 11pm on Friday August 1st and 12 noon to 11pm on Saturday August 2nd.
