Forget the socks this Christmas, the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond urgently needs help knitting 1000 bananas for their pantomime, The Adventures of Sinbad.
The theatre needs knitters to create convincing-looking bananas that are soft to throw. Production manager Tony Wilcock said: “After extensive research we decided that one of the best ways of manufacturing such a quantity was to knit them!
"Knowing there are many keen knitters of all ages in the region, we have decided to organise a knit-a-thon. It’s a chance to come along to the theatre and knit a banana or three in a social environment!”
Anyone wishing to take part should arrive with their own needles at the theatre in Victoria Road, Richmond by 10.30am on November 8th for the great Georgian Theatre Royal banana knit-a-thon.
Knitting patterns are available on the day or, for those wishing to get started now, patterns can be downloaded from the “Sinbad” page at www.georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk or by ringing 01748 823710. Yellow wool, tea and... banana cake will be provided!
The tropical production of The Adventures of Sinbad features Dominic Goodwin as “Dame Donna Kebab” and Joe Fleming as “Mustapha Nana” amongst its colourful cast. Tickets are on sale at the Theatre Box Office Tel: 01748 825252.
