HRH The Princess Royal (Princess Anne) will be paying a visit to Richmond on Thursday 11th September 2014 as she takes the salute when the Royal Corp of Signals celebrate the 50 the Anniversary of their receiving the Freedom of Richmond.
The Royal Corp of Signals has had close connections with Richmond since long before the granting of the freedom in 1964. The freedom was originally bestowed because of their strong and very special support for the town. "I am immensely proud and honoured that Richmond will be playing host to one of the most popular members of the Royal Family" says the Mayor of Richmond, Cllr Clive World "and I hope that everyone will come out to celebrate the Royal Signals and show their appreciation to HRH Princess Anne" he added.
“This commemoration of 50th anniversary will be a very special event and an extremely memorable day in the history of our town.”
The event starts at approximately 11.00am on the 11th of September. The Market Place will be duration but parking will be available at Nunn's Close.
Princess Anne follows in the footsteps of her brother HRH Prince Charles who visited Richmond in September 2005 and who became joint patron with HRH Camilla Duchess of Cornwall of the internationally renowned Georgian Theatre Royal.
