George And Dragon Pub Celebrates A Horrible Halloween Under New Management.
The village of Hudswell in North Yorkshire is gearing up for a creepy Halloween as their community-owned pub, The George and Dragon prepares for an evening of frightful festivities this Friday 31st October.

Under new management and recently reopened by landlord Stuart Miller, the pub will host a morbid medley for kids and adults ending with the judging of the famous local scarecrow competition.

There will be pumpkin carving and trick or treat fun for kids. Expect the unexpected on the menu with dreadful dishes like....witches fingers, heads filled with maggots and blood clot jelly. For those brave enough, dare to try one of the potent potion cocktails, anyone for a shot of blood clot brains?

All week the spine-chilling scarecrows have been creeping out of the darkness, terrifying all those that dare to wander along Hudswell. Photos of every scarecrow will be up in the pub for everyone to vote. This year a terrifying trophy will be awarded to the scariest and most inventive creation.

All activities are free for all, with or without a pulse!
3-6pm Kids party including pumpkin carving and spooky menu Fancy dress essential
6-9pm Adult scary menu and ghoulish cocktails Fancy dress optional
9pm Scarecrow competition judging and prize giving

This Halloween event is the first of many planned events under the new management. The next upcoming event will be our Christmas Crafts Market on Saturday 29th November, held together with the village hall to help raise funds. This will be a great chance to stock up on unique locally made Christmas presents, enjoy a mulled wine and a mince pie and feel the festive spirit!

The George & Dragon is located in the small village of Hudswell in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. It was the first community owned pub in Yorkshire and offers a warm and friendly welcome to everybody.

In 2008 the pub ceased trading and was put up for sale, it remained closed for two years until it was bought by the Hudswell Community Pub Ltd. The pub underwent extensive renovations to modernise before re-opening in June 2010. The George & Dragon is at the centre of the local community, offering a little local shop, library, community allotments and free internet access.

Stuart Miller is the landlord and has a great passion for quality beers, outstanding affordable food and relaxed friendly service. He is supported by an excellent team including his father Keith and brother Sam who are both outstanding chefs.

The week long Hudswell Scarecrow Festival was started by the pub 4 years ago. Locals transform the village into a spooky haunt creating the most ghoulish, haunted gory scenes. Prizes are given for the scariest and most inventive.

Competition between locals is fierce with plans and designs being kept under wraps until they are finally revealed in the week of Halloween.
