Drop-in Event at Richmond TIC
Richmond Tourist Information Centre is hosting an event for tourism businesses and accommodation providers in the town next week.

The event, which is on Wednesday 9th November between 11am and 2pm, offers business people the opportunity to meet the staff and volunteers at the TIC and representatives of Welcome to Yorkshire.

The Tourist Information Centre, which is situated in Friary Gardens, has recently been taken over by local businessman Mr Barrie Proctor after local government cuts threatened its closure.

Mr Proctor said: “We thought it would be a great idea to have a drop-in event so that local business owners could meet the new team here and have a chat with the team from Welcome to Yorkshire over a coffee.”

The new TIC now has 15 volunteers under the guidance of Senior Manager Hilda Ellis. “We have a very happy and relaxed team of helpers with a wealth of information about the area,” said Hilda.

Since taking over the TIC, Mr Proctor has created a café area within the building so that visitors can enjoy a cappuccino whilst they plan their day. Souvenirs, locally produced gifts and artwork, handmade walking sticks and cards can also be purchased in the shop.

Richmond Tourist Information Centre is open daily from 9.30am - 5.30pm and can be contacted on 01748 828742 or email
