Wartime Musical and Sing-a-long at the Georgian Theatre
Tuesday, Nov 8, 2011
Richmond Operatic Society is to perform the wartime musical, 'When The Lights Go On Again', coinciding with the 90th anniversary of The British Legion.
This fantastic original show from the pen of Roy Sault tells the story of family life in England during the war years, culminating in a VE / VJ day party. The audience will laugh and cry and as they join the family on their way through some difficult times and some fun times.
New director at the Richmond Operatic Society, Joan Wilkinson, said: "I am delighted and excited to be putting on a show in the wonderful old Georgian Theatre. The cast, musicians and backstage team of ROS are all enjoying reproducing a different era in history.
"The story of an ordinary family in World War II is vividly depicted through song, comedy and drama, with authentic radio recordings, uniforms, 1940s ladies' fashions, ration books.... and letters from loved ones serving abroad. The audience is invited to sing along to well-known favourites such as "White Cliffs of Dover" in what we hope will be a magical evening for everyone."
Richmond Operatic Society are performing this musical from 23rd-26th November at The Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond at 7.30pm. Tickets cost from £6.50 - £12. For tickets call the box office on 01748 825252.
