Richmond Raises Over £1,000 For Barnardo's As Registrations Open For Pirate Themed 2015 Big Toddle
Thursday, May 28, 2015
Parents in Richmond are being urged to sign up now for the UK’s number one fundraising event for under 5s - The Barnardo’s Big Toddle 2015.
The Big Toddle is a short sponsored walk which saw close to half a million under 5s across the country register in 2014. Children who took part in Big Toddles in Richmond last year raised a terrific £1046 for Barnardo’s.
This year Barnardo’s is introducing a pirate fancy dress theme and is asking pint-sized Jack Sparrows to put their best feet forward to raise cash for vulnerable children who live locally and are supported by the charity.
Amanda Warrent, Barnardo’s fundraising manager, said; “We’ve had great support from Richmond toddlers and their families over the years. The Big Toddle is a great opportunity for everyone to dress up and enjoy themselves and help raise vital funds for vulnerable children at the same time. Every penny raised goes directly to our work with children in the local area - such as those who live in poverty or who have a disability.”
As well as a series of Barnardo’s organised Big Toddles across the UK, parents, carers and playgroups are encouraged to get involved by organising their own event. This could include:
gathering neighbours and others in the local community to hold a Big Toddle
holding a Big Toddle with friends in the back garden
encouraging your local nursery or primary school to hold a Big Toddle for infants.
Those who register receive a Big Toddle pack containing information and fundraising ideas. Please go to www.bigtoddle.co.uk or call 0800 008 7005 to register.
