Indulge Your Passion For Film In Richmond This October During The Station's Annual Film Festival
An annual film festival featuring movies from around the world and in a wide range of genres is set to take place from Friday, 2nd October - Thursday, 15th October, at The Station in Richmond.

The Station Film Festival has dramatically grown in size this year thanks to its popularity in previous years and to a third screen being opened in the building earlier this year.  20 films will be shown across the festival fortnight in a busy programme of 72 screenings.

For comedy lovers, ones to watch include The Grump, a Finnish film about the joys of disgracefully growing old; US export screwball She’s Funny That Way about the tangled love lives of the cast and crew of a Broadway show; and The Legend of Barney Thomson, the tale of a hapless Glaswegian barber turned murderer, starring Robert Carlyle, Emma Thompson and Ray Winstone.

For drama, turn to You’re Ugly Too, an Irish film about a man released from prison early to take care of his orphaned niece; West, set in 1970s West Germany following a woman and her young son who escape the German Democratic Republic searching for a better life; and 45 Years, about a couple about to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary when some shocking news tests the their relationship to the limit, with Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay

There is also New Zealand horror-send-up movie Housebound; the Sundance multi-award-winning film Me and Earl and The Dying Girl; and a beautifully shot local documentary, Addicted to Sheep, about a North Pennine sheep farming family.

To encourage you to indulge your passion for film, The Station Film Festival has a great BUY 4 GET 1 FREE ticket offer when you make your film choices before the festival begins.

One of the organisers Donald Cline said: “The festival is a fundraising opportunity that helps to keep The Station, vibrant and engaging and is made possible thanks to the charity’s close association with The Station Cinema, which has contributed enormously to making this beautiful heritage building such a huge success."

“The more films you see during our fortnight-long film festival, the more the charity will benefit, and as has happened this year, allows for a bigger and better festival in years to come.

“It is always a difficult process to decide on the final cut of films to make it into our festival so we hope you enjoy the chosen 20 and will take in healthy dose of the terrific work on offer."
