Richmondshire’s inspirational ‘Phoenix House Recovery Centre’ is £1000 better off thanks to the former Chairman of the District Council.
During his year in office Councillor Russell Lord raised £4800 for local charities – and Phoenix House at Catterick was one of them.
Run by Help for Heroes, the centre aims to inspire people that have been wounded, injured or become sick while serving the country – to enable them to lead an active, independent and fulfilling life. The specially designed building includes 46 ensuite rooms, four family rooms, an IT suite, training facilities, gym, café and social areas.
Cllr Lord also gave cash to the Great North Air Ambulance and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, SSAFA, and the MRI Campaign at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. It was raised through raffles, auctions and tombolas at various events through the year – including the Civic Dinner and Reception.
