The Georgian Theatre Royal is delighted to announce that its Spring 2012 season is now on sale. The season, which runs from 4th February to the 30th May, is particularly exciting as it is programmed by the Theatre's new Chief Executive, Kate Longmate.
Spring 2012 introduces the first ever season of matinees aimed at a family audience. On the second Saturday of each month shows, which are produced with children and young people in mind, will take centre stage at the Georgian. We start the family season on Saturday 11th February with the timeless tale of The Wind in the Willows. Full of magical puppetry, talented actors and original music it really is not to be missed!
We are embarking on a worldwide musical journey this spring with Karen Matheson from the west coast of Scotland, the brilliant Sierra Maestra from Cuba, Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart from Nashville Tennessee and back to Flora Thompson’s England for an evening with the Lark Rise Band.
The Georgian Theatre Royal Youth Theatre continues their tradition of incorporating thought provoking work into the Season. This spring they present Some Mother’s Son, Antigone, The Duchess of Malfi and Accrington Pals.
Speaking of the new season the Chief Executive, Kate Longmate, says: “I am delighted to present the spring season here at the Georgian. We are a building with an immensely important and significant history, but we are also a living and breathing theatre, producing and receiving work. This spring I am thrilled to introduce new companies such as Tongue Tied and Maison Foo to our stage alongside national and international legends such as Sierra Maestra and Germaine Greer.”
