Richmondshire Local History Museum opens its doors for the 2012 Season on Sunday, 1st April at 10.30am.
During the winter closure the museum has had the entrance and shop areas re-styled and had a new Entrance Gallery added, plus new displays based on findings and research. The Fenwick shop exhibit has had some structural alterations that make it even more realistic. The improvements have been made possible through the kind donations of friends and supporters of the museum.
Work on the Heritage Lottery funded Discovery Centre and the Ironmongers Shop continues and will be open at the end of the summer. The new Discovery Centre will provide interactive workshops for schools and groups and will be accessible to visitors.
Spokesperson for the museum, Mrs Sheila Harrison, said: "We are just a short step from the Market Place and encourage people to call in and peek into the history of Richmond and the surrounding area from Roman times to the present day."
Richmondshire Local History Museum is open daily from 10.30am to 4.30pm and is situated on Ryders Wynd. For more information please contact the museum on 01748 825611.
