Artists' Opportunity for Another Spot on the Wall
A popular Richmond tourist attraction and art gallery with more than 350,000 visitors a year is inviting artists to exhibit their work at a summer open art event to be held in July and August.

Entries from artists are invited from April 14th for The Station’s summer open exhibition, ‘Another Spot on the Wall’, in Richmond, taking place for eight weeks from July 14th until September 7th. The exhibition will run over the busiest holiday season, including the August Bank Holiday, and places are to be limited to 150 exhibitors, reserved on a first come, first-served basis.

‘Another Spot on the Wall’ is open to artists in all medias from across the country and any subject or style of work can be displayed, as long as the work is in 2D and no larger than 900mm square. Artists reserve their own dedicated ‘spot’ for the eight-week exhibition for a one-off fee of £50. Sold works can be replaced throughout the eight-week exhibition while one changeover will be allowed in cases where a picture is not selling.

Trustee for the Station Art Gallery, Lou Holliday, says: "We are expecting this to be a hugely popular event for artists and art purchasers alike. We held a similar open exhibition two years ago and our contributing artists sold very successfully. It can be a constant challenge for artists to get their work seen by a wider audience, and with The Station now having such a high volume of visitors – particularly during the summer months – this is a golden opportunity for all artists across the region."

The exhibition’s organisers are confident of attracting a huge variety of original work and look forward to putting together an eclectic mix of artwork covering a diverse range of styles and subjects. "We anticipate a full and varied show that will exhibit the extensive range of talent that is out there," said Mr Holliday.

"An open exhibition as prestigious as this will be as popular among established artists as it will be for lesser-known ones and those based in remote rural areas who struggle to get such exposure."

Entries will be accepted from April 14th until May 20th and entry forms can be collected in person from The Station reception or downloaded by clicking under the Spot listing on the
‘Exhibitions’ page under the Art section at

‘Another Spot on the Wall’ is hosted with the generous support of The Arts Council England. The exhibition is a follow on from a similar event held two years ago entitled ‘Spot on the Wall’. There will be a 10% commission on sales taken in aid of The Station Trust.
