Richmond's greatest sporting extravaganza of the year takes place on the River Swale this bank holiday Monday.
The annual Duck Race, which is organised by Richmond Duck Club, will commence at approximately 2 pm on Monday 7th May. Two and a half thousand racing ducks will begin the race at Green Bridge, continue down the river to the water fall and on to the finish line near Mercury Bridge.
Richmond's Mayor, Councillor Oliver Blease, will officially start the race at Green Bridge. A spokesperson for the Richmond Duck Club said: "This annual event is great fun for all the family and the owners of the winning ducks will even win a prize!"
To enter a racing duck costs one pound from any Duck Club member before the event and on the day. Proceeds will go to local children's charities.
