Larger than life panto dame, Dame Donna Kebab, will be causing havoc in Richmond's Market Place this Saturday.
Dame Donna Kebab, star of the Georgian Theatre Royal's panto, is to greet the public in the Market Square on the day she is confirmed as lead in The Adventures of Sinbad this Christmas.
She will start the day at 10am by formally opening the panto as she cuts a ribbon on the theatre’s Market Stall near the Green Howard’s Museum. The Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Oliver Blease, will be in attendance along with paparazzi eager to get a photo of the panto star.
Throughout the day Dame Donna will be taking advantage of the local shops and market stalls as she prepares herself for a big night out. Capelli Hairdressers on Castle Walk have the unenviable challenge of styling her locks, whilst the Unique Bra Boutique, also on Castle Walk have the bigger challenge of kitting her out with some dame-sized underwear!
With visits to the Town Hall, the Kings Head, The Fleece and The Station also on her agenda Dame Donna is hoping to meet as many Richmond residents as she can before she returns to Richmond in December for the panto.
The Adventures of Sinbad, which opens at the theatre on 8th December 2011 and runs until 7th January 2012, is the second in house pantomime the Georgian Theatre Royal has put on.
"In 2010 we produced our first ever in house professional pantomime, Mother Goose, to rave reviews and packed houses and we are excited to be producing our second in house pantomime with the same creative team," said Marketing & Press Officer, Emma Clark.
Popular Yorkshire Actor Dominic Goodwin will be playing Dame Donna Kebab and Tony Lidington will be directing.
