It’s nearly that time of year again. Richmond Live 2012 is almost upon us. And this year it’s looking bigger and better than ever.
For fourteen years music lovers and local businesses in and around Richmond North Yorkshire have been counting down the days to Richmond Live. The event, held on the scenic Richmond Batts, has grown steadily since its modest beginnings in the mid-1990s. Back then a handful of volunteers put on a low key gig with a few hundred interested visitors looking on. Since then big name bands like The Hoosiers, Marillion and Bad Manners have hit the stage and wowed the crowds into the night. The result is an enormous, loyal following.
Jon Naylor, the event’s Marketing Manager, explains: “We’ve attracted more music lovers year on year so far and this year is no exception. It’s looking bigger and better than ever for 2012 with headliners, the Brit Pop 90’s band Cast, supported by exciting artists covering a broad range of music genres. There’s something for everyone. There really isn’t anywhere else you can get a fun family weekend with 43 acts for such a modest entrance fee!”
The committee member responsible for booking many of the supporting acts, Andy Brown, added: “This is a landmark year for Richmond Live. We’ve managed to attract some really special acts from across the UK. Alongside many of the local Richmond Live old favourites, it’s due to bring a whole new dimension to the show.”
Being a non-profit making event relying upon donations and practical support from across the local community, the committee are keen to thank their sponsors and hard-working volunteers.
Richmond Live runs from 4.45pm to 11pm on Friday August 3rd and 12 noon to 11pm on Saturday August 4th. Entry is £5 on Friday evening and £8 for Saturday. Weekend tickets are available for £12 on the gate, however, guests are encouraged to buy advanced tickets via the website www.richmondlive.org for just £10 for the whole weekend. As always, all proceeds will go towards making the 2013 show even bigger and better.
