Talented Musical Trio Return To The Georgian Theatre Royal
Friday - April 6, 2018
Audiences will have a rare chance to hear three leading lights from the world of early music perform at Richmond’s Georgian Theatre Royal on Friday 27 April at 7.30pm.
Da Camera – comprising Emma Murphy (recorders), Susanna Pell (viols) and Steven Devine (harpsichord) – combine ‘early’, ‘folk’ and ‘contemporary’ influences to create their own unique and vivacious style of music-making.
The trio regularly performs at prestigious venues such as London’s Wigmore Hall, at major festivals around the UK and they have recorded for the BBC on many occasions. This is their second concert at The Georgian Theatre Royal, having first performed on its historic stage in 2011.
At the Richmond concert, they will be playing highlights from their two highly-acclaimed CDs A Celtic Celebration, featuring work by composers such as Turlough O’Carolan and William Byrd; and Telemann: Complete Trio Sonatas with Recorder and Viol.
Susanna Pell, who moved from London to Richmond 11 years ago, fell in love with the area after performing in St Andrew’s Church, Grinton, as part of the Swaledale Festival. She has since made the Yorkshire Dales her artistic base from which she has produced over 60 recordings and recorded extensively for radio, TV and film. “Da Camera has a busy UK-wide touring schedule but it is always a delight to play close to home at The Georgian Theatre Royal, which is such a magical and intimate space and ideal for the music we play,” she said.
Tickets for the concert cost from £11 to £16 and are available from the Box Office on 01748 825252 or via the online booking service at www.georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk
