Popular ladies’ choir, Musicality, is staging a special concert at Richmond’s Georgian Theatre Royal on Thursday 9 June at 7.30pm, to raise valuable funds for this historic venue.
Built by actor-manager Samuel Butler in 1788, the Theatre is the most complete Georgian playhouse remaining in Britain and occupies a very important place in world theatre history. As a registered charity, it relies heavily on the generous assistance of individuals, organisations and funding schemes and events such as this are an important part of its fundraising calendar.
Based in Richmond, Musicality is well-known for its entertaining repertoire that includes spirituals, popular classics and works by leading choral composers. They received the accolade of ‘Best Choir’ at the 2015 Tournament of Songs and walked away with the highest marks awarded to a choir in the last 50 years.
The Richmond concert will also feature guest artist Blue Skies – a guitar/vocal duo comprising Bert Bohanan and Jean Robinson – who will play a short selection of popular standards, including songs by George Gershwin and Cole Porter.
Musicality is directed by Gillian Ash – a successful composer and professional musician.
Clare Allen, the Theatre’s Chief Executive, said: “We are really looking forward to the concert. Musicality is an extremely polished group and is always popular with our audience. I’m sure that we are all set for a fabulous musical evening that will also be of great benefit to the Theatre.”
Tickets for the Musicality concert are priced from £7 to £12 and are available from the Box Office on 01748 825252 or via the online booking service: www.georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk
