Something New For Autumn From Those Masters Of Suspense, North Country Theatre
Thursday - September 15, 2016
North Yorkshire’s popular professional touring company North Country Theatre move back indoors for their autumn tour with a new play, a new director and a new actor joining the company.

Nobby Dimon has adapted a Rudyard Kipling short story called The Wish House and handed over the reins to actor Vivienne Garnett who makes her directorial debut with this sinister story of superstition, sacrifice and dirty laundry.

Joining Vivienne on stage will be North Country newcomer Ashley Christmas who will be playing the main character Grace Ashcroft - who may be seen by some as a dear, old lady - but the tale she tells of her younger days as a lusty farm girl and the strange sacrifice she made to keep her man is by turn hilarious and chilling.  Ashley, who is based in Hampshire has recently been touring in a one woman show called Becoming Hattie which was about the life of that much loved comic film and television actor Hattie Jacques. Playing the love interest will be Wensleydale based actor Mark Cronfield.

This tongue in cheek version of Kipling’s story of obsessive love, described by Nobby Dimon as Cold Comfort Farm meets A Picture of Dorian Grey opens at the Georgian Theatre Richmond, as part of the Walking & Book Festival on September 28th & 29th before touring the region through to its last night at Reeth Memorial Hall on December 3rd.

New venues include Middleham Key Centre on October 13th and a matinee at Leyburn Methodist Hall on November 5th.  For a full schedule and to book tickets contact North Country Theatre 01748 825288 or
