Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society Presents A Double Bill Of Comedy Plays
Wednesday - October 19, 2016
RADS have set themselves the challenge of producing not one but two plays for an evening of comedy at the Georgian Theatre Royal from Thursday 3rd  - Saturday 5th November.

With one cast doubling to create characters for both plays the society is setting new challenges for their actors. Tom Stoppard’s The Real Inspector Hound and Peter Schaffer’s Black Comedy create a perfect evening of farce and comedy that will have even the most stoic audience members laughing.

“The real challenge of producing 2 plays for one evening is for the actors” said Director, Jim Brown. “Each actor has a significant role in each of the plays and so they have to work hard to create two distinct characters. It’s a good way to challenge the actor’s skills that are in the society and I have no doubt that they will pull it off!”

The Real Inspector Hound, a parody much in the style of Agatha Christie sees two play critics watching a ludicrous country house murder mystery. What starts as a farcical murder mystery soon twists to involve the critics themselves. Will they survive? And who really is the real Inspector Hound?

Black Comedy leaves the actors in the dark… literally! A young man and his girlfriend borrow their neighbour’s furniture to impress an art dealer visiting their flat. When a blackout occurs and the neighbour returns early things soon get a bit complicated. Add into that the German art dealer, a German electrician, an ex-girlfriend and the father-in-law, this farcical play where the audience can see everything but the actors can see nothing couldn’t get more chaotic!

The Real Inspector Hound and Black Comedy are on at the Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond at 7:30pm from 3rd-5th November 2016. Tickets are available at the Georgian Theatre Royal Box Office on 01748 825252 or on the website at www.georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk
