In June 2002 the Richmond Partnership, in conjunction with the Richmond Town Centre Forum (jointly now the RSVCI), appointed consultants Chris Blandford Associates (CBA) to prepare a strategy for unlocking Richmond's heritage potential to support its social and economic revitalisation. The Initiative is being funded by the Countryside Agency as a national pilot study.
The Initiative seeks to establish an agreed strategy for the sensitive management, promotion and use of the natural, built and cultural heritage assets of both the town and the River Swale between Round Howe and Easby.
Through discussion workshops, seminars and other consultation activities, local stakeholders are encouraged to participate in developing a shared vision for the future of Richmond, and to identify agreed improvement strategies and projects.
A consultation draft of the Strategy was published in early 2003 and made widely available for comment. (below)
