Tucked under the historic castle walls in the rural market town of Richmond this well presented cottage with oak beams and old world character dates back around 270 years.
Furnished in a traditional style, there is a wood burning stove for the cooler evenings and a pretty cobbled cottage yard for sitting and relaxing on a sunny morning. The River Swale, meandering through the picturesque Yorkshire countryside, passes at the bottom of the hill, and the castle walls are ideal for a stroll from the cottage doorstep. Tour this beautiful area of the Yorkshire Dales and visit Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum or Leyburn and the villages of upper Swaledale and Wensleydale.
Richmond has a lovely Georgian Theatre well worth a visit, shops, pubs and tea rooms serving local specialities and everyday shops for your convenience. To access the cottage a private path leads to a walled and cobbled courtyard, with a bench, flower tubs, and log store.
Ground floor: entrance hall, steps down to open plan sitting/dining room with a wood burning stove and well equipped kitchen area. Double bed settee for alternative sleeping arrangements. Utility/storage cupboard.
First floor: 1 double bedroom, with cast iron bed and views over the castle and town plus 1 single antique pine bed for a child or an additional adult. Shower room, with shower cubicle WC, wash hand basin and heated towel rail.
Facilities: electric oven and halogen hob, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster. Automatic washing machine. Iron/ironing board. Colour TV/DVD, radio/CD player, selection of books and games. Bed linen and towels provided. Electric storage heating and all electricity included in the rent. One starter basket of logs included. Cobbled cottage yard, garden bench.
