The Bridge

The Bridge, formally St John’s Community Centre has operated as a charity since 1988. 

 

A Day Service for older people who live in Richmond and surrounding villages. 

The cost is £39.50 per day. You may be able to get help with the cost if you have a significate need and deemed eligable for support. This included, transport, lunch and activities. 

Dementia - If you look after someone who suffers from dementia and need to go out or attend an appointment you can drop them off at The Bridge for an hour or two, knowing they are in safe hands. £15 per hour 

Half day - Cost £20 11.45am - 3.00pm No transport provided, you must make your own way to The Bridge. 

Our Respite Sitting Service covers Richmondshire. This service is free of charge.

DAY SERVICE FOR OLDER PEOPLE

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday people come to The Bridge to enjoy other people's company in a warm friendly environment where they can read newspapers, enjoy a freshly cooked meal and join in meaningful activities.

We are experianced at looking after people who suffer from Dementia. 

We can help with a little shopping, form filling, reading letters.

There is free internet access with laptops available.

Regular visits by a hairdresser, Chiropodist and Acupuncturist. 

We can assisted you to shower - towels, shower gel and shampoo provided. 

We also offer a laundry service.  

Tea/coffee - cake/biscuits provided thoughout the day.

Our trained staff members ensure the people who come here are offered practical support whilst ensuring their independence.  

 

RICHMONDSHIRE SITTING SERVICE 

The sitting service is offered to people who live and care for a dependant relative in their own home.  A volunteer will sit with a loved one whilst their carer has a welcome break.  We will match you to a suitable volunteer who will sit with your loved one whilst you have a break.  This could be between one to four hours. All our volunteers have a DBS certificate - (police checked) 

 

People who use our services can expect to be:

  • Protected from abuse, or the risk of abuse, and their human rights respected and upheld
  • Treated with sensitivity in a caring, dignified and confidential way
  • Supported to make new friends and enjoy social activities
  • Encouraged to maintain independence and daily living skills and, through our activities, supported to learn new things
  • Given full information about our services and information about services provided by other organisations
  • Consulted about ways in which our service could change or be improved
  • Advise of how to complain and given a quick response
  • Provided with well-managed services which reflect equal opportunities
