Richmond Women's Institute

Richmond WI meets in the church hall behind St Joseph and St Francis Xavier Church, Newbiggin, DL10 4DT, on the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m.  There is no meeting in August.  We usually have a speaker at the start at the meeting, followed by refreshments.  We then give out details of any up-coming activities.  In addition to the  monthly meetings, we have a needlecraft afternoon,  a walking group, a Mah Jong evening  and  coffee socials each month.  We also organise other events as requested by members.

Visitors are welcome for a couple of meetings with no charge, so prospective new members can see what Richmond WI is  all about. Any women aged 18 or over can join our friendly group.  Annual membership for 2019 is £42.00, but new members joining throughout the year pay a pro rata rate, depending when they join.

May Meeting

This month's meeting gave us chance to talk about the resolutions which will be discussed at the national AGM in Bournmouth next month.  After comments on both topics , we agreed to vote for both - "Don't fear the smear" and "A call against the decline in local bus services" and Pam will represent us at the meeting.  Following refreshments. we had a light hearted games evening which gave us a chance to get to know new member Linda and visitor Judy.

Next Meeting - Monday 9th June

Ian Spiers from the Swaledale Mountain Rescue will bring along a rescue dog - part of their team, to talk to us about their operations.
